Hello All,
While I have been a little quite in blog world I have not been neglecting my miniatures. With newly restored miniature mojo (thanks to Ilona) I managed to complete the textiles in the twins room, bedding and drapery done! However, I have not yet photographed my progress and intend to do that soon along with the items from Ilona I have yet to reveal.
In the meantime I thought I would show you this lovely little 48th scale Miners cottage I purchased from Emily at Architecture of tiny distinction a while ago. It is an absolutely darling little house, so perfectly and skilfully put together. Emily modelled it on a miners cottage in Tasmania, although there are many similar to this one throughout Victoria and beyond.
Note the beautifully detailed wall paper complete with borders and the oh so tiny fire place.
I couldn't resist taking a few snaps with the light flooding though, it gives it such a cottage feel, so warm and cosy, I can't wait to find some teeny tiny furniture for it. Whilst this is a dollhouse for a dollhouse, I enjoy having it displayed on my living room shelves, I have quite a fascination for miners cottages, so quaint and reminiscent of the Australian settlers and their lives. For those that are interested click here for a little information on Australian miners huts.
Finally, I would like to thank those that voted for Mia's cyber bulling video. Mia was placed in the top 5 winning a $500 voucher and an encouraging supply of confidence. As it turned out she won on her merits and not by popular vote as was first thought, a clever way for the organisers to get exposure which is the major objective. Thank you so much to those that emailed me about boosting exposure, your support is very much appreciated.
A warm welcome to my new followers, I will be posting soon with an update of the twins room.

It is really cute. I had never heard of these cottages before. I couldn't get the link to connect to see the RL ones. I will try again later.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Mia. I am delighted to hear she won a prize. She must have been walking on air. :-)
Hi honey
ReplyDeleteI love the minors cottage, such detail and character. I've often thought of going smaller like trying 1:24 scale but never sure if I'd cope!! Ha ha
Well done Mia. Speaking as someone who was bullied at school (it wasn't quite so hitec back then but the theory was the same) I'm really proud of what you have achieved and the message it sends x
Have a great weekend Fi xx
Congratulations to Mia. She should be very proud of herself; that she had the guts to produce her film and that she won a prize on her own merits. Good for her =0D xxx
ReplyDeleteHI Fiona! I've seen this cottage on Emily's blog and then I found already that they're so beautiful. It just like you say: all the tiny details are perfect and it is so well made. Thank you for the link of the miner's cottages, I haven't seen it yet, but I will.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Mia, she can be proud of herself! It is good to know she won the prize on her own merits :D!
Lovingly, Ilona
There's something very pleasing about the symmetry and proportions of your miner's cottage. I am fascinated by small structures like that and Emily did a marvelous job. Congrats to Mia and looking forward to seeing the fruit of your labor on 'the big house.'
ReplyDeleteXOXO,
John
Your miner's cottage is ... a major achievement! This looks very inviting, even though I've not spent my day underground. I love the wall-paper. This miner has taste!
ReplyDeleteMia truly deserves her success - and the wonderful prize! Well done Mia!!!!
Lots of love

ReplyDeleteI just saw some wonderful kangaroos on Woolytales blog and thought of you ;-)))
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Mia on her awsome film and her winning on personal merit! She did such a fantastic job and I am glad that did not go unnoticed.
The cottage is wonderful and cozy, just the place you'd want to come home to after a hard days work. I love the photo with the light streaming through the windows.

Hi Fi! I love the little cottage and I think that Emily's Considerable skills in miniature are Incredible and made even more so in this tiny scale! Also well done Mia having presented an entry about something so significant among so many. Not that long ago a very young woman here in western Canada committed suicide as a direct result of cyber bullying. What a wretched business when teenagers can be hounded to their deaths by both strangers and "friends". Mia's video was a powerful subject that needed to be recognized and addressed because it touches and affects us all!
