HAPPY EASTER A familiar scene

Hello every one, I would like to wish you all a very Happy Easter. As most of you are enjoying the growth of spring we are feeling the cool breeze of Autumn........my favourite season. I love the crisp mornings and sunny days, the leaf fall and the beautiful sunsets showing the softer tones of Autumn not the bright harsh colours of summer.

As eggs are symbolic of new life and Easter I thought I would share with you a familiar scene. I have borrowed from Mulvany and Rodgers and put a RL egg in my miniature Kitchen. This did happen by accident as I was making eggs ( in Fimo ) I used a RL egg as a guide. I popped it on the table as a reference then the image from their Colonial kitchen came to my mind and I thought I would have a play with it. LOL
I hope you like it. The eggs are of course made of fimo and speckled with a little pastel dust. I did make a rather horrible job of the little egg cup as it was a last minute idea.So any if any one knows who makes miniature egg cups I would love to hear. That is RL Thyme I saved from dinner the night before as I thought the tiny leaves would work quite well to add that splash of green.

These are images of the kitchen minus the giant egg! I took these early morning to capture the right light as I would like to have the feel of early morning eggs for breakfast. As I have said before, part of the enjoyment of the miniatures for me is setting the scene. So I do hope you enjoy eggs in the morning and in the last photo I have thrown in some ham as well. The Ham has a special reference for Mia and I but I will explain in my full reveal of the kitchen. I have left the rest of the kitchen a bit out of focus as it is not finished yet. It at least gives you al little glimpse of where I'm going with the Range hood etc... I have finally worked out a way to remove the hood to change the light bulb as I will be attaching a flue and I needed to be able to remove it without lifting it and I have come up with a rather ingenious idea. Pictures to follow in the next post.

Have a wonderful easter every one and happy Minis to you all.

  1. Love the photo with the big egg, I immediately thought of the Mulvany's LOL. The small eggs is wonderful, and the kitchen is looking great.

I am also enjoying the cooler autumn weather.

    Have a good Easter too.

  4. Happy Easter Fiona! I love your photos, beautiful scene and lighting. I like the little sprig of thyme with the eggs, it gives just the right amount of colour contrast. The eggs look great with their little freckles. And what's wrong with the egg cup? I like it.

    1. Hi Josje,

Thanks for stopping by. Its wonderful to hear you like what I have done so far. All your rooms are so inspirational, especially your kitchen.

Lol, the egg cup if you look closely is a bit wonky, but I guess it has the desired effect, I'll have to look out for some real ones.

  7. Your little egg cup looks just the thing, I wouldn't change it and you've made an excellent job of the little eggs. I really like the bowl you've got them in too!

I don't know about Spring - we had an unseasonal heatwave here last week (gardening in a sleeveless T-shirt). This week we've got snow!

I hope you and your family have a lovely Easter too, when it comes.

    1. Hi Irene,
I'm so glad you like them, the bowls I got in my local Doll House shop but are hand made from England, I have a set of them.

Ahhh, so you get crazy weather too, a couple of weeks ago we toyed with the idea of having an open fire but Good friday is going to be 30 degrees ( about 85 for you) but the mornings are nice and cool.

Love to you all for easter, Fi xx

  11. Hello Fi,
I have to say, looking at these pictures, your comment opn my blog about feeling a little hopeless is totally unfounded. Your room settings are always so detailed and alwyas beautiful. Even with the backgoround out of focus the kitchen is awsome. I think you are very talented and your work is up there with the best of miniaturists. Don't ever doubt your skills because your pictures will proove you wrong each and every time.
That being said...I CANT WAIT to see the entire kitchen.
Have a great easter and remeber it's okay to eat all the chocolate you want!
    Big hugs,

You also do wonderful photographs. I love the way the light comes into the kitchen.

I am glad you worked out how to change to bulb in the range hood.

Happy Easter and have a wonderful day. We are supposed to have good weather for all the events and I hope your weather is good, also.

  14. I enjoyed seeing your eggs.....the morning light sets them off perfectly!!!!

We are feeling the effects of our Autumn weather here in Tasmania this week end.....last week we had a 29C day, today it is only about 8C and there was a dusting of snow on the mountain.....definitely NOT looking forward to Winter.

  15. Hi Linda,

I'm glad you like the eggs!

Yes we are having similar seasonal effects although not as low as 8C yet. I have had the open fire going all weekend to take the chill off, a bit too early to start the floor heating. No sign of snow though (not that we get any here lol) I have a feeling it will be a wet one though.

  16. Hi Fi! It looks great your scene! When you see the big egg, you know it is a miniature kitchen, but without this giant egg it seems I look around in a real kitchen. My Easter eggs and eggcups are also a tiny bit wonky, but in real life it also is ;) I have made my whole Easter teaset of Fimo (see my Easter scene in the post) and it was a difficult job to get it straight(?). The teapot is also a hollow one, but I have to improve it. I used also pastels to color it like you did. Unfortunately my knowledge of the English language is not good enough to explain the technical side(?)/explanation of my projects;it is a pity, I would like to explain how I did it...
    Hugs, Ilona
