Question?

Hello everyone, as you may have noticed I had a little play around with my blog layout, I have wanted to change it for a while but wasn't sure how to do it. I had some time to do a little experimenting and finally worked it out, so I hope you like it. As I was investigating I came across the Page views section and I am wondering exactly what the definition of this is. Some posts have less page views than comments so does this mean a page view is a view without comment? I have had one day that was triple other posts and it would be interesting to know what generates so many views. So if any one can help out this blogger noob I would be most grateful.

I have posted this picture in as a filler, it is one of the original shots I took for my banner but it is in the original colour format, I toned down the intensity of the colours so it worked better with the blues on my blog. I was never that happy with the banner so I might some day change that to. This was taken on the deck of one of the boat houses on our beach. Hopefully today I will get some miniatures done and have something else to report on.

Happy minis every one.

  1. I just went and looked at the page view stats, right at the top there is a little bar where you can choose day, month, week and etc, it seems that it tells you the page views for those posts for only the last month, so if it is an old post from than a month ago and you are on day it will show you how many people looked at it the last day, if you click on all time it will show you the total page views I think, wish I could figure out how to see that on all my posts, it only shows a few of my posts.

Oh and I like your new layout.

    1. Ah, yes, I get it, that makes more sense. I couldn't understand how you could have less views than comments.

Thanks so much Elga, glad you like the new layout!

  2. Hi Fi!
I have had the same problem, but Elga explained it to you, so now I know it how come ;) By the way: your new look is great, Fi. I adore the view on the picture, wish I ever could be there...
I also replied on the last post but can not find it back...? It often happens: bloggerproblem I think, but I do not like it :( People think I do not put a comment and that is not true!!
Have a great weekend. Hugs, Ilona

    1. Hi Ilona,

Yes, wel thankfully Elga has a more logical mind than I do and it's not hard to see with all that beautiful furniture she makes, hehe! I'm glad you enjoy the pictures, i might do some more soon.

I know it is very annoying when posts don't show up and I'm sure we are all baffled as to how it happens. I have recently lost comments I have made......grrrr!

      Mini hugs, Fi xx

    1. Thanks lovey,

You know in my exploration of stats I discovered my most popular post was of my Holiday at Inverloch! It has had 4 times more views than any of my others, at the time I thought it might be a bit boring for we miniaturists but I guess there are other people looking.

  5. Hi Fi,
Nice to have that Pageview stuff explained. Blogspot seems to give a lot of statistics, but hard to understand.

Oh, I love the new look! And I like the picture --I agree with Pepper--definitly a geeat seaside and warm weather picture! You take wonderful photographs -- Your artistry shows in all your photos (and, of course, in all your miniatures, too).

    Cheers,

    1. OMG Iris,

I think I jinxed my blog! I have been trying to reply to you and it wouldn't let me......haha! I had to take a break.

Thanks so much Iris, I think I might do a few more posts on where I come from, I guess it is nice to see pictures of the beach if your not close by your self. Although today its not so good, it was raining, but Twiggy ( Dog ) and I don't mind so much, I took some video of her swimming this morning, maybe i will try posting that, hehe!

  6. hi Fi, great new look, freshens everything up, like a new lick of paint!

I know how to change the font and colour of the title banner, but not much else, Blogland is full of funny little quirks, sometimes I don't get updates, or comments don't appear on my blog from people, as you know yourself!

Looking at your photo, I had an image of you carrying all your miniatures down to the beach, carefully ballancing them in your hands!

    love

  7. Hi Andy,

Blog world is certainly a mystery to most of us.

You know funny you should say that about balancing them in my hands, hehe, I did at least have the sense to put them in a box to carry them down there but it was a job to stop them from falling down the cracks of the deck and just as I took the pictures my friend and her dog and little girl came bounding up and I had to scoop them up quickly to stop them from all going flying.......so much for the tranquil setting!

  8. I like the new layout Fi. As for the stats, it's all a complete mystery to me! I'm just pleased folk are looking - lol.

  9. Hi Fi, you are already way ahead of me with changing into this lovely new look and all. (i'm bias, blue is my favorite so I love your muted tones :))) I'll confess it took me a whole year to be brave enough to hit the "save changes" button of my layout. And when it comes to the statistics of Blogger, i'm a no-know so no help from me there... Blogger acts so weird sometimes, i gave up trying to dig it all

But you mentioned you wondered how people came to you, or what it is that some pages are frequented more then others? Then this might be a great aid; http://statcounter.com It's a gadget you can incorporate into your blog, and its soooo easy (even for a no-know like me and that says a lot whahaha) I've put it up cos blogger didn't counted visitors back then. But it's so extensive, it also tells you where they came from (country, previous website, search engines etc.), what pages they have been visiting, how long etc etc... I'm no Big Brother, and definitely don't wanna become one, but if for instance you wonder why all of a sudden a page of your is visited more then you would expect, you can tell where they came from... in other words if someone has put a link to you, on their site? Isn't that neat !?

What ever you do, keep it up cos it's always nice to read your postings

    1. Hi Debora,

it's great to hear from you. Speaking of annoying blog situations I have recently tried to post on your blog and both times I have noticed they disappeared. It has happened on a couple of other blogs too so i wonder if it's at my end?

Thanks for the tip, I don't want to be big brother either but it was interesting when I noticed it. I will definitely give it a try. On e of the funny things I noticed is a large percentage of viewers came from Slovenia, and Russia and I wonder where the connection is. I will try the stat counter.

  10. If you really want more accurate stats, too, try adding google analytics to your blog... if you google it (hehe) it should take you to where you need to go to learn how to put it on your blog and use it to track your stats :)

  13. Hi Fi,
I like the new layout. If I had to pic just one word to describe your blog it would be Fresh. I always feel as though I'm at the beach.

I wish I could help you, but I have no idea, I don't really pay attentiton to blog options...it took me long enough to figure out how to get started.

Have a great week and I LOVE that picture.
    Big Giac hugs,

    1. Hi Gaic,

Thank you so much for your warm wishes, I did have a nice day!

I have also realised I didn't reply to your last comment,it was one of those funny things when I realised I hadn't joined, I went looking for you to add to my side bar and couldn't find you.

We have had a few hiccups at home which has been some what time consuming and I haven't been able to get in the right head space for miniatures. Rest assured we are all okay and things seem on the improve.

Thanks again for your birthday wishes.
      love always, Fi xx

  15. My dear Fi,
Please accept from me a warm belated Birthday greeting........I did not know. Thank you Simon for making us aware. We have something in common! My birthday is also on the 21st.....just not in May :-)
Fi, I hope you had a wonderful day and echo from Giac that you were spoiled rotten with gifts and cake and love. It is a pleasure to get to know you through the blog and see what imaginative things you do. So come back soon, we all miss seeing you and knowing what is going on in your life.

    1. Dear Ray,

Thank you so much for your kind wishes, your going to have to tell us which moth your birthday is now!

I did have a lovely day, it was full of funny mishaps including being sick through the night but I had a great day with lots of belly aching laughs which is always the best way to celebrate your birthday.

As I said to Gaic, we have had a bit going on here but things seemed to have turned the corner and I should be back into the miniature scene soon. Just checking in on my blog is enough to get me curious as I can see you have all been busy!!

      Much love, Fi xx
